Terahertz quantum cascade laser spectroscopy

cryostat_1Terahertz quantum cascade lasers are not yet as mature as their mid infrared counterparts. However, terahertz quantum cascade lasers are nevertheless highly interesting for molecular sensing applications, as intense pure rotational transitions can be targeted. In this work, the laser tuning parameters and beam propagation property were investigated with spectroscopy application in mind. A large aperture multipass Herriott cell has also been developed to cope with the increased diffraction effects of terahertz radiation.

This work is conducted in collaboration with the Institute of Microwaves and Photonics of the University of Leeds.
